Membership

Bibliothèque Montcalm library offers free membership to all residents of the Rural Municipality of Montcalm. Children up to twelve years of age are required to present a membership form signed by a parent or guardian. All new members will be given a tour of the library, with an explanation of the rules. Be assured that the library staff will be happy to offer assistance whenever necessary.

Loan periods

Loan periods vary on the type of materials and the needs of the patrons. Most items, such as books, periodicals, compact disks and videos have a four week lending period. DVDs have a forty-eight hours lending period. Items may be renewed.

Late returns

The purpose of fines is to encourage the timely return of library materials so that other patrons may have access to these materials. There are generally no fines on books, periodicals, compact disks, and videos. A fine is enforced on DVDs with a $1,00 per day per late DVD up to a maximum of $5,00. Abuse of library materials and non-return of library materials will be considered grounds for loss of borrowing privileges.

Inappropriate websites

The library provides public Internet access to ensure equal access to information and resources and to meet the educational and recreational needs of the community. Bibliothèque Montcalm Library has no control over the information accessed through the Internet and is not responsible for its content. Entering inappropriate websites and the misuse or abuse of computers or programs is not acceptable. Users in violation of the library’s Internet and computer guidelines will have their Internet and computer privileges revoked.

Gifts

The library does accept a small amount of donated books. If we feel that the donated books do not fit our library’s needs, they will be placed for sale for $0,25 or donated to charity.
